Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek and the Tun Hussein Onn Teachers’ Foundation contribute RM10,000 for Arissa El Zahra’s scoliosis surgery
IPOH: Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek and the Tun Hussein Onn Teachers’ Foundation (YGTHO) have contributed RM10,000 to cover the cost of scoliosis surgery for 13-year-old Arissa El Zahra Reduan, which is scheduled to be performed at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) on Sept 8.
In a Facebook post today, Fadhlina said she and YGTHO had settled the surgery costs for 13-year-old Arissa El Zahra.
“Who wouldn’t be deeply moved, especially seeing the face of a child so eager to continue attending school? *Alhamdulillah*, YGTHO and I have covered the treatment and surgery costs for Arissa.
“May Arissa be granted a smooth recovery and good health. Thank you to our friends in the media for serving as the bridge between the community and us,” she said.
Earlier, Fadhlina shared a video of herself making a video call to Arissa and her mother to convey the good news.
“Insya Allah, we want to help you, Arissa, undergo your surgery. We will provide RM10,000 to ease the process. We want you to recover, regain your health, and return to school with your friends, so there’s no need to worry.
“The RM10,000 is settled, okay? We will arrange for the contribution to be handed over immediately. Hopefully, everything goes smoothly,” Fadhlina said during the video call.
She added that her team is making the necessary arrangements to ensure Arissa receives the best possible treatment.
“May the surgery scheduled for September go smoothly, and may Arissa make a full recovery. Keep praying and stay strong, dear,” she said.
Yesterday, Bernama reported that Arissa’s father, Reduan Saad, 41, had appealed for RM10,000 to cover the cost of his daughter’s scoliosis surgery, which is scheduled to be performed at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) on Sept 8.
