Restaurant company and directors charged for failing to provide customs documents

Alshhba Group and three directors plead not guilty to charges of failing to submit documents requested by the Royal Malaysian Customs Department.

GEORGE TOWN: A restaurant-operating company and three of its directors were charged in the Sessions Court here for failing to submit documents requested by the Royal Malaysian Customs Department.

Alshhba Group Sdn Bhd and directors Nooraishah Hazis, 56, Mohd Zamberi Mohd Soriji, 53, and Syrian national Mahmoud Sheikh Albasatna, 30, pleaded not guilty before Judge Irwan Suainbon.

The charges allege they failed to provide documents as required by Section 57(2) of the Service Tax Act 2018.

Nooraishah faced an additional similar charge.

All offences were allegedly committed at the JKDM Import and SST Audit Branch in Seberang Perai Tengah on May 1 this year.

The charges under Section 57(4)(a) of the Service Tax Act 2018 carry a maximum penalty of RM30,000 fine or two years imprisonment or both.

JKDM Prosecuting Officer Mohd Safwan Fathy Yahaya conducted the prosecution while the defendants were unrepresented.

The court scheduled January 19, 2026 for mention of the case. – Bernama
