MACC calls on Malaysian companies to enhance integrity and governance to combat corruption risks and protect corporate reputation
PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has urged the corporate sector to strengthen its commitment to promoting integrity culture and sound governance.
Kuala Lumpur MACC director Mohamad Zakkuan Talib warned that failure to instil integrity opens the door to abuse of power and damages company reputation.
“Today’s business landscape presents far greater challenges,” he said in a statement.
“Issues of corruption, breach of trust and leakages are becoming increasingly complex.”
He emphasized that top management must lead by example on integrity matters and ensure transparent, responsible decision-making.
The statement accompanied yesterday’s Leading With Integrity forum with Malakoff Corporation Berhad.
The forum aimed to enhance understanding of corporate corruption risks and strengthen anti-corruption practices through integrity-driven leadership.
Three distinguished panellists shared insights on integrity officers’ role in reinforcing governance systems.
They discussed strategies for combating corruption within large corporations to shape a more competitive, integrity-driven corporate landscape.
The panellists agreed that emphasizing integrity is fundamental to corporate sustainability and stakeholder confidence.
Panel members included Mohamad Zakkuan, Malaysian Integrity Institute CEO Datuk Ahmad Ramdzan Daud, and ACeIO deputy president Nurirdzuana Ismail. – Bernama
