New Tanjung Batu rep to launch mobile medical team within two months

Tanjung Batu’s newly elected representative Dr Andi Md Shamsureezal will establish a mobile medical team for the constituency, fulfilling his campaign promise

TAWAU: The newly elected representative for Tanjung Batu state constituency Dr Andi Md Shamsureezal Mohd Sainal will fulfil his promise to establish a mobile medical team for the area.

The Gabungan Rakyat Sabah candidate said the initiative will be launched within the next month or two.

“In fact, the team is already in place; we just want to finalise the details,” he told reporters after the official results for Kalabakan’s four state seats were announced.

During the election campaign, he had promised to set up a mobile medical team for Tanjung Batu in addition to continuing health check-ups for residents.

The former Lahad Datu Hospital director vowed to shoulder his mandate from the people with trust, integrity and full dedication.

He added that his other promises of fostering a healthy community, empowering youth through education and skills, and developing better infrastructure will also be fulfilled.

“Thank you to all the residents of Tanjung Batu. Through the cooperation of hard-working machinery and the acceptance of the people, we have won this seat,” he said.

He defeated his closest challenger Samasuddin Yusop from Barisan Nasional by a majority of 981 votes.

Meanwhile, Datuk Rina Jainal who ran as an Independent and secured the Kukusan seat described her victory as a blessing in her political journey.

“I will certainly do my best for Sabah, and most importantly, to ensure the people’s voice is heard at the state level to build a better Kukusan,” she said.

She defeated Samsiah Usman from GRS by a majority of 650 votes.

Rina added that she will support whichever government is successfully formed for the progress of Kukusan and to ensure campaign promises are fulfilled.

Early this morning, GRS chairman Hajiji took his oath of office for his second term as Chief Minister of Sabah before Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Musa Aman at Istana Seri Kinabalu. – Bernama
