Anwar to table anti-corruption committee’s annual report to cabinet

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim says the Special Committee on Corruption’s annual report will be assessed to strengthen reforms and public confidence.

KUALA LUMPUR: The annual report of the Special Committee on Corruption (JKmR) will be presented to the cabinet and discussed in detail with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the report covers the committee’s review of MACC’s annual reports from 2021 to 2024.

This enables the committee to identify trends, developments, and challenges in the nation’s anti-corruption efforts.

“Every recommendation and finding in this report will be assessed seriously to further strengthen institutional reforms, curb leakages and reinforce public confidence,” Anwar said in a Facebook post.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transparency, integrity and good governance.

“We will ensure that the pursuit of a corruption-free nation with strong integrity continues to be our highest priority,” he added.

Anwar earlier received a courtesy call from the committee, led by its chairman Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah.

He was briefed on the committee’s annual report for the first time.
