Seremban Sentral project to create 2,500 jobs and RM300 million in annual revenue

The RM2 billion Seremban Sentral transit hub is set to generate RM300 million yearly, create 2,500 jobs, and boost medical tourism in Negeri Sembilan

SEREMBAN: The Seremban Sentral transit-oriented development is projected to generate up to RM300 million in annual business revenue and create approximately 2,500 new jobs.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the 8.42-hectare project involves an estimated gross development value of RM2 billion.

He stated the development would also generate at least RM15 million in monthly income for the local workforce through direct and support-chain economic activities.

“The Seremban Sentral development also targets at least 6,000 daily commuters traveling between homes, workplaces, and healthcare and lifestyle centres,” Loke said at the project’s groundbreaking ceremony.

He emphasised the project is a symbol of resurgence that bolsters the city’s identity as a modern and sustainable economic centre.

The first phase from 2026 to 2030 will focus on core components including the Sunway Medical Centre Seremban.

This private hospital will feature more than 250 beds and 480,000 square feet of space, becoming the first hospital in the state built next to the Seremban Railway Station.

Also included is a new 1.2-million-square-foot shopping mall managed by Sunway Malls and a 300,000-square-foot office tower.

The second phase will see additional residential, commercial, and community facilities covering 3.2 million square feet developed from 2029 to 2039.

Loke said the project will emphasise medical tourism development in Negeri Sembilan with the new medical centre as a catalyst.

“We expect patients to come from other states and abroad not only for treatment, indirectly stimulating tourism activities in the state,” he added.

He noted the state’s strategic location near the Klang Valley gives it strong potential to attract international medical tourists.

The project will preserve heritage elements through the conservation and upgrading of the historic Seremban Yard colonial building.

Mature trees in the area will also be retained to preserve the original landscape.

“The Heritage Market is being restructured as a cultural attraction, and becomes a more organised and appealing trading area,” Loke said.

Sunway Group founder Tan Sri Dr Jeffrey Cheah said Seremban is rapidly emerging as a key logistics and industrial hub.

He stated the project’s implementation will significantly expand and enhance rail connectivity in the area.

“This is aligned with the state-led Malaysia Vision Valley 2.0, where Negeri Sembilan plans to transform the state into a high-value and future-ready economy by 2045,” Cheah added.

He said Sunway intends to be a long-term partner in driving sustainable and equitable economic development in the state. – Bernama
