The government allocates RM85.6 million to build 100 more Madani Recreational Parks nationwide, aiming for a total of 1,000 parks to enhance public well-being
IPOH: The National Landscape Department has received an allocation of RM85.6 million to develop an additional 100 MADANI Recreational Parks (TRM) across the country by 2026.
Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said the funding supports the target of establishing 1,000 such parks nationwide to improve public well-being.
“We have not only achieved this year’s initial target of 100 TRMs, but as of this morning, 216 have been fully completed,” he said at a press conference.
He earlier officiated the opening of the RM500,000 TRM Taman Tanjak in Batu Gajah, located between Jalan Gopeng and Sungai Kinta.
Nga noted that Perak leads the nation with 34 MADANI Recreational Parks established so far.
He said monitoring at TRM locations will be strengthened under the safe city programme to curb vandalism.
“The installation of more CCTV cameras will also help reduce incidents of property damage,” he added.
On community spaces, Nga said 100 RUKOM hubs have been developed in residential areas nationwide through URBANICE Malaysia.
Each RUKOM, costing between RM20,000 and RM30,000, serves as an inclusive social hub for community activities and skills training.
He said the 100 RUKOM established so far required an investment of under RM30 million, with 12 located in Perak.
The first RUKOM was launched at PPR Seri Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur on July 6, 2023. – Bernama
