Visitors experience traditional tanjak-making at Rancakkan MADANI programme

The KPN booth at Rancakkan MADANI offered hands-on tanjak and samping workshops, drawing strong public interest in Malaysia’s traditional clothing arts

PUTRAJAYA: Visitors to the Rancakkan MADANI Programme experienced Malaysia’s traditional clothing arts firsthand at the Ministry of National Unity (KPN) booth.

The Ukhwah MADANI segment featured immersive workshops on making the traditional tanjak, tengkolok, and samping.

People of all ages, including children, eagerly tried crafting tanjak using provided songket cloth.

The booth also offered a free gold-cleaning service and an interactive digital portrait-drawing activity.

Instructor Mohamad Johari Alfawaris said the 30-minute tanjak-making session received an encouraging response since the event’s first day.

Participant Mohd Syahrizal Zoljefry from Bangi said he was thrilled to try the activity under skilled guidance.

“I’ve never tried making a tanjak before, only traditional bunga samping,” he said.

The three-day programme, which began on Thursday, features over 300 public service touchpoints and a career carnival.

It also includes interactive showcases, family entertainment, and special promotions for visitors.

The event is organised by the Prime Minister’s Office through the Performance Acceleration Coordination Unit (PACU).

It targets 300,000 attendees and runs until Sunday at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to officiate the closing ceremony on Sunday morning.

Rancakkan MADANI continues the government’s annual tradition of reporting its achievements directly to the people.

Held concurrently is the 2025 National Convention on Public Service Reform. – Bernama
