Johor on track to deliver 30,000 affordable homes by late 2026

Johor has built 20,100 affordable housing units, with 9,900 more to be completed by Q4 2026 under the RMMJ scheme, state official says

KULAI: The Johor government is confident of meeting its target to build 30,000 units under the Johor Affordable Housing (RMMJ) scheme by the fourth quarter of 2026.

State Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor said 20,100 units have already been completed and handed over to owners.

He stated the remaining 9,900 units are expected to be finished on schedule.

“The 20,100 units we have built so far almost cover the entire district,” Mohd Jafni said.

He noted that 15,000 of those units were constructed in urban areas like Johor Bahru, Pasir Gudang, Tebrau, Kulai and Kota Iskandar.

The RMMJ scheme offers houses priced below RM300,000 in both urban and rural locations.

Mohd Jafni added that the Johor Budget 2026 introduced the Perumahan Kasih Johor initiative with three special assistance schemes.

These include a House Rental Assistance Scheme providing RM200 monthly for 10 months to the B40 group.

The Bantuan Beli Rumah Pertama Scheme offers a RM5,000 subsidy for first-time buyers of homes under RM500,000.

A separate Bantuan Masuk Rumah Pertama Scheme provides a one-off RM2,000 financial assistance for new homeowners. – Bernama
