Melaka sees over 140,000 cruise tourist arrivals in 11 months

More than 140,000 tourists landed in Melaka via luxury cruise ships from November 2023 to October 2024, state exco reveals

MELAKA: A total of 143,218 tourists landed in Melaka via luxury cruise ships between November last year and October.

State Tourism, Heritage, Arts and Culture Exco Datuk Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman said the arrivals came from six vessels: the Genting Dream Cruise, Seven Sea Voyager Cruise, Riviera Cruise, Star Voyager Cruise, Regatta Cruise and Nautica Cruise.

He revealed that while 249,829 tourists had boarded the ships to Melaka, only 143,218 disembarked at the Melaka Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security Complex.

Abdul Razak provided the figures at the Melaka State Legislative Assembly session at the Seri Negeri Complex today.

He was responding to a question from Low Chee Leong (PH-Kota Laksamana) on monthly luxury cruise tourist landings since 2024.

On the construction of the Cruise Terminal on Pulau Melaka, Abdul Razak said development work has begun with about 5% physical progress completed.

“To date, a total of 60 piles have been installed, marking the start of construction work on the terminal’s basic structure,” he said.

He warned that the state government would not tolerate any company failing its responsibilities.

“All violations will be subject to appropriate action without compromise,” Abdul Razak added. – Bernama
