Pengiktirafan UEC mesti ikut Perlembagaan, bukan tekanan politik – Zambry

KPT tegaskan keputusan isu pengiktirafan UEC mesti berpaksikan Perlembagaan dan Rukun Negara, bukan desakan politik mana-mana pihak.

PUTRAJAYA: Kementerian Pendidikan Tinggi (KPT) menegaskan sebarang keputusan mengenai pengiktirafan Sijil Peperiksaan Bersepadu (UEC) mesti berpaksikan Perlembagaan Persekutuan.

Menterinya Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir berkata isu itu tidak boleh diputuskan berdasarkan tekanan politik atau tuntutan sempit mana-mana pihak.

“Pendirian Kerajaan MADANI kekal konsisten bahawa kedudukan bahasa Melayu sebagai bahasa Kebangsaan dan bahasa ilmu merupakan prinsip asas negara yang tidak boleh dikompromi,” katanya dalam satu kenyataan.

Beliau menegaskan prinsip itu terpakai kepada semua aliran pendidikan tanpa sebarang pengecualian.

Zambry berkata KPT bersetuju dengan penegasan Perdana Menteri bahawa semua aliran pendidikan wajib mengukuhkan penguasaan bahasa Melayu.

Perkara itu selaras dengan kehendak Perlembagaan serta aspirasi nasional dalam pembinaan jati diri dan perpaduan negara.

Di peringkat KPT, kementerian akan terus memperkukuh hala tuju pendidikan tinggi negara yang inklusif, progresif dan berdaya saing.

“Penekanan akan terus diberikan kepada penguasaan Bahasa Melayu sebagai bahasa teras, teknologi dan ilmu,” katanya.

KPT turut memperkasa Bahasa Inggeris serta bahasa lain seperti Mandarin, Tamil, Arab dan bahasa suku kaum.

Ini bagi melahirkan bakat nasional yang multilingualisme, berakar pada nilai kenegaraan serta mampu memenuhi cabaran global. – Bernama
