Education Ministry abolishes SPLKPM system to reduce teacher workload

The Ministry of Education has abolished the SPLKPM training system to ease teachers’ administrative burden and improve classroom focus

BUKIT MERTAJAM: The Ministry of Education (MOE) has abolished the Ministry of Education Malaysia Training Management System (SPLKPM) to reduce teachers’ workload.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the decision followed an ongoing assessment and feedback from educators who felt the system affected their core duties.

“Today, the Ministry of Education announced that the SPLKPM has been abolished because it directly affects the welfare of teachers and their workload,” she said.

Fadhlina stated the MOE had previously implemented other interventions, like improvements to the Student Discipline System, to address workload issues.

She noted SPLKPM was often discussed by teachers who felt bound by its requirements to the point of disrupting classroom focus.

The abolition aims to give teachers space to focus fully in the classroom ahead of new curriculum plans next year.

“Every step taken is part of the Ministry of Education’s ongoing commitment to reducing teachers’ workload,” she added.

Fadhlina stressed the MOE would continue to examine steps to consistently reduce teacher workload to strengthen national education quality.

She was speaking at the handover ceremony of the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama Sheikh Tahir Jalaluddin project here today. – Bernama
