Ethnic music festival promotes Rukun Negara values and racial unity

The Rukun Negara Club Ethnic Music Festival in Perlis strengthens unity among youth through cultural performances, with 104 clubs established in schools.

KANGAR: The Rukun Negara Club Ethnic Music Festival serves as a platform to strengthen racial unity and promote appreciation of the Rukun Negara values among the younger generation.

Department of National Unity and Integration (JPNIN) Director-General Zulkifli Hashim said the festival demonstrates that art and culture are important tools for social and cultural education.

“Every musical performance, martial arts movement and ethnic dance presented carries values of tolerance, love and the spirit of togetherness,” he said.

He added that the festival symbolises the strength of unity in diversity while instilling love for the country.

Zulkifli called on teachers and students to use cultural activities to bridge differences and strengthen togetherness.

He officiated the Perlis state-level festival at Dataran Dato’ Sheikh Ahmad, which featured 36 performances involving 30 schools.

Performances included traditional music, martial arts and ethnic dances, with several schools participating in more than one category.

Zulkifli also noted that 104 Rukun Negara Clubs have been established in Perlis, involving 74 primary and 30 secondary schools.

This reflects the government’s continued commitment to strengthening unity at the education level. – Bernama
