Melaka to build RM5.6 million special education block at SMK Bukit Katil

A new RM5.6 million PPKI building for special needs students at SMK Bukit Katil will be completed by August 2027, accommodating over 90 pupils.

MELAKA: The state government is constructing an additional building for the Integrated Special Education Programme (PPKI) at SMK Bukit Katil.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said the RM5.6 million project is scheduled for full completion in August 2027.

He stated the facility is urgently needed to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment for students with special education needs (MBPK).

Ab Rauf explained that growing PPKI enrolment has resulted in overcrowded classrooms exceeding capacity.

“This new facility will be able to accommodate more than 90 students,“ he said.

He added it would support student development and well-being, ensuring no child in Melaka is marginalised.

The Chief Minister spoke at the project’s groundbreaking ceremony held at the school.

The ceremony was held in conjunction with the Bukit Katil ‘Wakil Rakyat Untuk Rakyat’ (WRUR) programme.

Also present were Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari and Melaka Public Works Department director Mohamad Salzeli Moktar.

The project will include six classrooms, an intervention room and a workshop.
