Petronas and MACC reinforce anti-corruption collaboration, focusing on prevention, whistleblower protection and ethical compliance for corporate integrity.
PUTRAJAYA: Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) has reinforced its commitment to integrity and anti-corruption through a strategic collaboration with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
A Petronas delegation met with MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki at the MACC headquarters to discuss the partnership.
Azam emphasised the importance of a comprehensive prevention approach, effective whistleblower protection and transparent handling of reports.
He encouraged collaboration on capacity-building programmes and the sharing of best practices for continuous improvement.
Azam also welcomed an invitation to attend a “Coffee With Integrity” session with Petronas’ top management next year.
Petronas reiterated its commitment to fostering a culture of integrity that goes beyond mere compliance.
The meeting sought MACC’s guidance in reinforcing ethical practices throughout the company’s operations and supply chain.
Petronas presented updates on various governance initiatives during the session.
These include improvements to the whistleblowing mechanism and strengthened public-private partnership collaboration.
Leadership-driven awareness programmes and a five-year integrity and anti-corruption plan were also discussed.
