Over 8,000 volunteers appointed for SPM exams to aid teachers

Malaysia’s SPM exam sees 8,006 volunteers appointed in 2024, the highest since 2023, to help reduce teacher workload and support educators.

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 8,006 volunteers have been appointed to assist with this year’s Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said this marks the highest number since the volunteer initiative was launched in 2023.

In a Facebook post, she noted that the total number of volunteers participating over the past three years has reached 20,997.

“We will never stop trying, finding ways to deal with the workload of teachers,” Fadhlina said.

She stated this ensures educators can fully focus on teaching and learning tasks while maintaining their well-being.

The ministry will continue to explore ways to ease the workload of teachers.
