Ukrainian President Zelensky announces a summit with allied leaders in France on January 6, following preparatory talks by security advisers.
KYIV: President Volodymyr Zelensky announced a summit with Ukraine’s allied leaders will be held in France on January 6.
He stated on social media that the leaders’ meeting will be preceded by a gathering of allied national security advisers on January 3.
“Shortly after that, discussions will take place at the leaders’ level — the meetings are necessary,” Zelensky said.
He added that the security advisers will meet again on January 7 to refine the discussions.
Speaking to journalists, Zelensky said the advisers will first “go through all the documents, all the groundwork” before the leaders convene.
The diplomatic meetings come as the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion approaches.
Zelensky said Kyiv hopes for a subsequent meeting with both European leaders and US President Donald Trump.
This follows Zelensky’s weekend talks with Trump in Florida, where both sides reported progress on a US peace plan but no major breakthrough.
