Customs Department targets higher revenue for 2026 after record 2025

Customs Department aims for higher 2026 revenue after exceeding its 2025 target, crediting digitalisation and the MyCIEDS system for boosting efficiency.

PUTRAJAYA: The Royal Malaysian Customs Department is targeting higher revenue collection for 2026 after exceeding its goal for 2025.

Director-General Datuk Anis Rizana Mohd Zainudin said the department collected RM73.27 billion as of December 16, surpassing the Ministry of Finance’s revised target of RM73.26 billion.

She attributed the strong performance to a comprehensive digitalisation drive, particularly the Malaysian Customs Import Export Document System (MyCIEDS).

“Insya-Allah, we will aim for an even higher target next year,” Anis Rizana told Bernama.

She said the Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, had acknowledged the department’s excellent performance for 2025.

Anis Rizana added that MyCIEDS has expedited the goods clearance process and closed revenue leakage gaps.

“Previously, it could take two or three days, but now an officer can process a maximum of 350 transactions in a single day,” she said.

She stated the greatest impact was migrating to a paperless system, which increased transparency and governance.

“When everything is online, the opportunity for the misuse of power is almost zero,” Anis Rizana said.

MyCIEDS is the department’s official electronic system for the online submission of supporting documents for customs declaration forms.

In 2024, the Customs Department recorded revenue of RM65.57 billion, its highest post-pandemic figure. – Bernama
