PM Anwar says harmonious New Year celebrations kick-start Visit Malaysia 2026, showcasing unity, culture and boosting momentum toward tourism
KUALA LUMPUR: The harmonious New Year celebrations have provided an early catalyst for the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) tourism campaign.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the festivities reflected the beauty of Malaysia’s cultural diversity and spirit of togetherness.
“The highlight of the celebration was enhanced by large-scale multimedia performances, including fireworks displays that lit up key tourist hotspots,” he said in a Facebook post.

Anwar expressed hope such events would strengthen national unity while positioning Malaysia as a friendly and respected global destination.
The VM2026 campaign was officially launched through the Visit Malaysia 2026 Countdown Festival at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.
The Prime Minister’s attendance at the countdown marked the start of efforts to build early momentum in the national tourism sector.
The campaign targets 43 million international visitor arrivals by 2026.
