Malaysia condemns Israel’s ban on Gaza aid groups as illegal

Malaysia strongly condemns Israel’s ban on humanitarian aid organisations in Gaza, calling it a violation of international law and collective punishment.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has condemned in the strongest terms the Israeli regime’s decision to ban and suspend the operations of numerous international humanitarian aid organisations in Gaza.

The Foreign Ministry stated this action is a clear violation of international humanitarian law.

It warned the move will exacerbate the dire humanitarian crisis following over two years of war against Palestinians.

“The obstruction of humanitarian assistance constitutes collective punishment of civilians,” the ministry said.

It added that the action undermines the neutrality and independence of humanitarian actors.

Wisma Putra emphasised Israel is legally obliged under the Fourth Geneva Convention to ensure unimpeded humanitarian access to Gaza.

Malaysia called on the international community to act decisively to compel Israel to immediately rescind its decision.

It demanded the international community ensure full and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid.

The ministry said Israel must be held accountable for its violations of international law.

Malaysia also reaffirmed its unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people.

It pledged to continue advocating for an end to Israeli aggression and the lifting of the siege on Gaza.

The nation supports the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine based on pre-1967 borders.

It reiterated that East Jerusalem must be the capital of Palestine. – Bernama
