Datuk Seri Wan Zahidi Wan Teh ends his service as Perak mufti, having led the state’s fatwa institution since his appointment in August 2022.
IPOH: Datuk Seri Wan Zahidi Wan Teh concluded his tenure as the Perak mufti yesterday.
A farewell ceremony was held by the Perak State Mufti Department to mark his last day of service.
In a farewell speech, Wan Zahidi described work in the field of fatwa as part of the broader sphere of dakwah.
“Rest assured, it will take us further,” he was quoted as saying in the department’s Facebook post.
Deputy mufti Datuk Zamri Hashim expressed appreciation for Wan Zahidi’s contributions and leadership.
Wan Zahidi was appointed Perak mufti on August 1, 2022, after receiving the consent of the Sultan of Perak.
He succeeded the late Tan Sri Harussani Zakaria, who passed away in May 2021.
Wan Zahidi, who hails from Gerik, is known as a prominent Islamic thinker.
His notable contributions span academia, research, education and human capital development.
