KDU University College’s (KDU UC) Malay Cultural Society clinched gold in the Charity and Welfare category at the recent Student Engagement Centre (SEC) Honours Gala Night.
SEC Malaysia is an initiative undertaken by Empowering Youth Endeavour (EYE) Project. It mainly acts as the house of representative for all registered clubs and societies in every institution of higher education in Malaysia.
The Malay Cultural Society was awarded for the MCS Fun Run 2013 which attracted some 1,800 individuals. The event gathered people from all walks of life, for a benevolent cause for the Shelter Home children.
KDU UC’s Cheerleading Club also made it to the finals under the Sports category while the SET Club was placed in the Top 10 under the Environment category.
KDU UC vice chancellor Prof Khong Yoon Loong said he was proud of the students and that the institution’s push towards introducing the E3-Boosters (which emphasises English proficiency, EQ development and entrepreneurship), should allow for even more success.
“Each of the three E3-Boosters components is widely incorporated into the curricula of KDU UC’s academic programmes, and all its students are exposed to them,” he added.
