SEPANG: AirAsia deployed 350 volunteers to assist guests at klia2, the newly launched airport. An initiative led by the AirAsia People Department, volunteers are divided into four shifts which start as early as 5am and ends at 12am daily, including weekends.
AirAsia Group Head of People Department Adzhar Ibrahim said: "AirAsia volunteers are a dedicated team whose mission is to provide a helping hand to our guests travelling in and out of klia2.
"For the past three days, our volunteers served as information resource specialists equipped to assist passengers with finding their way, gate locations, flight status, baggage claim, ground transportation and general enquiries," he said in a statement today.
Identified by their distinctive red T-shirts, AirAsia volunteers can be found at various points located at klia2 as well as the Gateway mall.
The statement said that when the airline's People Department opened the registration for volunteers, it received overwhelming response from AirAsia Allstars (employees) from all over Malaysia, including Thailand and Indonesia.
The number of volunteering requests even exceeded the actual total needed by the airline, it said. Their readiness to help fellow colleagues reflects AirAsia's high camaraderie spirits and family values, setting the airline apart from the rest of the field, the statement said.
The volunteering programme will continue for the next one month, a mark of commitment by the airline and its dedicated employees in ensuring a smooth flow of operations at the new klia2. – Bernama
