Stolen goods worth RM200,000 recovered after man detained

JOHOR BARU: Stolen goods worth RM200,000, believed to be from housebreaking, were recovered after police detained a 41-year old man at Malacca.
Johor police chief Datuk Mokhtar Shariff said the suspect, believed to be involved in three house breakings in Johor Bharu and Kulaijaya, was arrested on Nov 26 while he was alone in his car.
"Police found in his car 35 bottles of expensive wine, four watches, 14 bags, eight wallets, two hand phones, four waist belts and cash RM2,000," he said.
The suspect, he added, has seven previous criminal records.
Mokhtar said they hoped to solve more cases with the detention of the suspect who is on remand until Nov 6 to assist them with their investigation.
Mokhtar also called on all the district chief police officers in the State to expedite their operations and investigations into the illegal gambling machines.
"All OCPDs must rid their districts of illegal gambling machines," he said, adding that there are there are 78 legal family entertainment centres still operating in Johor which will be closely monitored to check if there is an abuse of their licence issued.
Mokhtar said they intent proposing to the local authorities not to renew these licences when it comes up for renewal.
