Perak Sultan appointed as Royal Fellow of Ipsom

KUALA LUMPUR: The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah today received the letter of appointment as Royal Fellow of the Institute of Public Security, Malaysia (Ipsom), with the appointment effective today.
The document was presented to the Sultan by Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi at a brief ceremony at Istana Hinggap Perak, here.
It was witnessed by Ipsom chief executive officer Datuk Lee Bee Pang and the ministry's secretary-general Datuk Alwi Ibrahim.
Lee said the choice of Sultan Nazrin as Royal Fellow of Ipsom was based on His Royal Highness' background in the fields of economy, politics and government, as well as his deep interest in the areas of security and public order.
Ipsom, which focuses on matters related to public security and harmony, was among Ahmad Zahid's early initiatives as home minister.
It is among the Blue Ocean Strategies and comprises 12 members drawn from various agencies under the Home Ministry including the Royal Malaysian Police, Prisons Department, National Anti-Drugs Agency and National Registration Department.
According to the Home Ministry's official website, Ipsom's main focus is carrying out in-depth studies on security issues with the objective of assisting the ministry in drawing up effective security policies in the interest of preserving national peace and harmony. – Bernama
