PM visits Indonesia to meet leaders from Asia, Africa

    PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak will be on a two-day working visit to Indonesia starting April 23 to attend the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Asian-African Conference (Bandung Conference) and the 10th Anniversary of the Asian-African Strategic Partnership.
    The Foreign Affairs Ministry said the visit will also provide Najib an opportunity to exchange views on bilateral, regional and international issues of common interest with leaders from Asia and Africa.
    "The visit will reaffirm Malaysia's continued support and commitment to strengthen cooperation with other developing countries in Asia and Africa in the common endeavour to promote world peace and prosperity through the cooperation," it added.
    The Bandung Conference and the 10th Anniversary of the New Asian-African Strategic Partnership are significant events which assembles State and Government heads from 109 in Asia and Africa as well as representatives and observers from 25 international organisations.
    The event will be preceded by the Asian-Africa Summit with the theme, "Strengthening South-South Cooperation to Promote World Peace and Prosperity" on April 22 and 23 in Jakarta.
    Prior to the Summit, Anifah will be attending the Ministerial Meeting on Apr 20 and 21 while Ahmad Shabery will be attending the Asian-African Submit on April 22 and 23.
