GEORGE TOWN: No action will be initiated against the Penang PAS youth wing for threatening not to help campaign in the upcoming Permatang Pauh by-election.
PAS deputy president, Mohamad Sabu (pix) said, he does not consider the threat as a rejection from the state PAS youth.
"No action would be taken but during the by-election, everyone within the party must respect the decision to help," he said after officiating the PAS Jelutong division annual general meeting at Solok Sungai Pinang Jelutong today.
The Permatang Pauh seat was declared vacant after its incumbent, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, was disqualified as a Member of Parliament since March 16 after the Pardons Board rejected a petition for a royal pardon sought by the Opposition Leader's family over his conviction for sodomising his former aide, Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan.
Anwar is currently serving a five-year jail sentence at the Sungai Buloh Prison.
The Election Commission has announced April 25 as the nomination day and May 7 as polling day.
On another issue as to several PAS divisions having rejected to nominate Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang as the party president , he said: "It is an opinion, anyone in the party can voice out their opinion, nothing wrong about it, its normal."
However, he added, that the matter will be raised at the PAS monthly meeting.
