Police detain 12 illigal immigrants in integrated operation

    KOTA KINABALU: Twelve illegal immigrants were detained in an integrated operation at two separate locations here early this morning.
    Kota Kinabalu District Police acting chief Supt Azhar Hamin said the illegal immigrants were detained after 48 foreigners were screened during the operation which began at 4am at the Mido Marketing factory living quarters and squatters around the city.
    "The majority of illegal immigrants detained were Filipinos, with a total of nine people, while three others were Indonesians," he said in a statement here today.
    During the operation, police also detained eight individuals - seven men and a woman, after they tested positive for drugs, he said.
    The integrated operation with personnel from the General Operations Force, National Registration Department, Civil Defence Department, Kota Kinabalu City Hall, the Immigration Department, Rela and Customs Department ended at 12noon. – Bernama
