PETALING JAYA: Yet another Mount Kinabalu guide identified as Joseph Selungin, 33, died this morning due to severe injuries sustained in the recent Sabah earthquake.
It was learnt that Selungin was found beneath a boulder as he was trying to shield two climbers from the landslide of rocks that was triggered by the quake.
As reported in Amazing Borneo Facebook, Selungin was last seen hugging his two guests and using his body to protect them.
Unfortunately, both the climbers also perished in the incident.
According to one of his friends, Shahrulnizam Suhaji, Selungin was married. He had a four-year-old son and a two-year-old daughter.
His wedding anniversary would have been on June 12.
In the Amazing Borneo Facebook, Shahrulnizam added that he and Selungin had been working with the same company (team) for almost two months.
“He has brought nothing but good memories and experiences for our fellow climbers. A man of courage and uncompromising thoughtfulness. His goodwill and high-spirits will forever be remembered by all the lives he has touched," the social site quoted Shahrulnizam as saying.
