16 places record unhealthy air quality in the evening
KUALA LUMPUR: Sixteen places throughout the country recorded unhealthy air quality level as of 6pm with Melaka City recording the highest Air Pollutants Index (API) reading of 134.
According to the Department of Environment (DOE) website, this was followed by Balok Baru, Kuantan (129), Kemaman, Terengganu (125) and Shah Alam, Selangor (111).
Other places are Indera Mahkota, Kuantan (110); Batu Muda, Kuala Lumpur (109), Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan; Port Klang and Petaling Jaya, Selangor (108); Seremban, Negeri Sembilan (106); Kuching, Sri Aman, Sarawak and Putrajaya (105), Bukit Rambai, Melaka and Banting, Selangor (104); and Nilai, Negeri Sembilan (103).
Meanwhile 27 other places recorded moderate API and only eight had healthy air quality.
An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality; 51 to 100, moderate; 101 to 200, unhealthy; 201 to 300, very unhealthy and 300 and above, hazardous.
