MaybankIB issues 16 new European-style cash settled call warrants

PETALING JAYA: Maybank Investment Bank Bhd (MaybankIB) has issued 16 new European-style cash-settled call warrants with an issue size of 100 million each.
The call warrants are over ordinary shares of AirAsia Bhd, Datasonic Group Bhd, UEM Edgenta Bhd, Hartalega Holdings Bhd, Inari Amertron Bhd, Karex Bhd, Kossan Rubber Industries Bhd, Supermax Corp Bhd, Top Glove Corp Bhd, Unisem (M) Bhd and V.S. Industry Bhd.
The structured warrants were listed yesterday.
“This tranche features call warrants over counters that could potentially benefit from the weakening ringgit. The current exchange rate may boost export driven sectors such as manufacturers of rubber, gloves and semiconductor due to potential foreign exchange gains and better price competitiveness.
“Also, companies with foreign currency-denominated revenue and ringgit-denominated expenses will record higher profit margin from the forex translation gains. This tranche offers an opportunity to sophisticated investors who wish to participate in any potential upside from a range of sectors in the event of a declining ringgit,” MaybankIB said in a statement yesterday.
The call warrants were given gearings as follows: AIRASIAC27 (2.84 times), AIRASIAC28 (2.84 times), DSONIC-CG (2.40 times), EDGENTA-CD (3.94 times), HARTA-CQ (3.59 times), INARI-CK (3.77 times), INARI-CL (2.83 times), KAREX-CK (3.61 times), KOSSAN-CJ (3.68 times), SUPERMX-C3 (3.38 times), SUPERMX-C4 (3.38 times), TOPGLOV-CW (3.59 times), UNISEM-CK (3.38 times), VS-CA (3.20 times), VS-CB (3.20 times) and VS-CC (3.20 times).
The tenure of all 16 structured warrants is about 12 months.
