BANGI: Reading material on nuclear technology should be written in simple language so that misunderstandings and misinterpretations of knowledge related to radioactive materials can be corrected, said Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Seri Madius Tangau.
He said public understanding of science applications and nuclear technology, namely weaponry and security, need to be increased.
"The huge challenge for the science, technology and innovation (STI) community is humanising innovations that ensure all members of society, especially the grassroots, can understand and be able to feel the impact of STI in their daily activities and their quality of life," he said when officiating the 2015 Technology and Preview Showcase, Malaysian Nuclear Agency (Nuclear Malaysia) here today.
At the event, Nuclear Malaysia also sealed a cooperation with Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka in disseminating knowledge regarding nuclear technology to the general public and the launch of six books on nuclear science.
The showcase, which began today and expected to last until Thursday involves a number of activities including product launches, product and services exhibition, a seminar on commercialisation, intellectual property seminar, innovation competition and visits to plants and the main laboratory of Nuclear Malaysia. — Bernama
