KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi hope that the country's economy will see a boost in the Year of the Monkey.

He added that the Chinese community will continue to extend their support to the government.
Meanwhile, Minister in the Prime Minister's department Datuk Wee Ka Siong admitted this year will be challenging economically.
"I think in view of the global oil price slump, we will see a more challenging year ahead ... we are however, hoping to achieve an increase in economic growth from 4 to 5%."
He did not elaborate on the mechanism to implement it.
MCA Public Services and Complaints Department head Datuk Seri Michael Chong echoed this sentiment, saying there were many issues such as finance and social welfare that the party needed to address.
They were speaking to the press at the MCA headquarters after attending the party's Chinese New Year's Open House celebration today.
