KOTA BARU: The Special Tactics and Intelligence Narcotics Group (STING) in Bukit Aman has seized 414,000 Methamphetamine pills worth RM8.3 million, and arrested 14 suspects in raids around Rantau Panjang, Pasir Mas.
Bukit Aman Narcotics CID deputy director Datuk Mohd Dzuraidi Ibrahim said the seizure and arrests were carried out in two operations, involving seven different locations.
"In the first operation from Feb 20 to 22, we arrested 11 suspects, comprising five men from Thailand, five local men and a woman, aged between 27 and 69.
"As a result of the (first) operation, three more suspects, namely two men and a woman, all locals aged between 47 and 53 were arrested in the second operation on Feb 23, apart from the siezure of 414,000 methamphetamine pills," he said at a press conference at the Kelantan police headquarters here, today.

"The syndicate modified their vehicles by creating a special storage area, before transporting it out from Thailand to Kelantan via legal routes," he said.
He said this has been the largest seizure involving drugs smuggled via the land border this year.
He said the police also seized eight cars, jewellery, cash amounting to RM34,350, and money in accounts amounting to RM276,611.
Six suspects were detained for investigation under Section 39(B) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, four, under the Dangerous Drugs Act (Special Preventive Measures) Act 1985, while four others were released.
