KUALA LUMPUR: Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Bhd expects another tough year this year for the Malaysian beer market, said its managing director Henrik Juel Andersen.
He said the market will remain subdued until the macroeconomic situation improves and consumer sentiment stabilises.
Speaking to reporters after its AGM today, Andersen said consumer spending was affected by the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax and the depreciation of the ringgit last year.
Despite that, the group achieved "satisfactory" growth last year and declared a final and single tier dividend of 67 sen per ordinary share of 50 sen, which was approved by shareholders today.
With the interim dividend of 5 sen per ordinary share of 50 sen each paid on Oct 9, 2015, the total dividend declared for the financial year 2015 is 72 sen per ordinary share of 50 sen each.
