KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak (pix) expressed his gratitude that the month of Syawal was greeted with exuberance and in a harmonious environment without any dispute and conflict.
He said: "This is part of the blessings showered on us by Allah the almighty each year, and we should all play a role in ensuring that this harmony is preserved at all times, Insya-Allah."
He also hoped that Malaysians would spend time to visit one another and strengthen family ties and friendship.
Commenting on the invitations to open houses in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri, he said: "Accept the invitations if you have the time."
"(This is) because the open house tradition has been one of the ways we enliven the Aidilfitri celebration, besides ensuring that the bond of friendship between us continues to flourish and grow," he said in his blog entry, NajibRazak.com.
He also advised the people that in accepting the invitations to the open houses, Malaysians should always be moderate in consuming the variety of dishes offered such as "lemang", glutinous rice, "ketupat" and "rendang" so that their health would always be maintained.
Najib said that throughout the month of Ramadan, he had had the opportunity to meet many Malaysians, and tried to enjoy the unique local culture and dishes at the Ramadan Bazaar.
"(This is) in addition to enhancing the religious programs and participating in the 'moreh' or meals at the surau and mosques throughout the country," he said.
He also shared several photographs taken during the Hari Raya Open House of the Prime Minister and Cabinet Ministers at Sri Perdana, Putrajaya on the first day of Syawal.
"It was truly glorious with many people from the various ethnic groups and religions attending, truly 1Malaysia," he added. — Bernama
