HULU SELANGOR: Just a week after a group of youths scaled the Ipoh sign at Gunung Lang, police today arrested three teenagers for allegedly trespassing into a water tower enclosure in Rawang, in a bid to snap selfies at the top of the tank.
Hulu Selangor police chief Supt R. Supramaniam said in the incident on Friday, the teenagers, aged between 16 and 18, were nabbed following a tip-off.
"Initial investigations revealed that the suspects had entered the private area to take selfies on top of the water storage tank.
"They had also been in the area twice, prior to being detained," he said in a statement today.
Supramaniam advised the public to prioritise their safety and avoid entering prohibited areas.
On Jan 4, video of a daredevil youth taking selfies atop a crane at a construction site in Ipoh went viral, and drew rebuke from city authorities.
The video emerged just days after pictures and a video of a group of youths scaling and performing death-defying stunts on top of the 'Ipoh' landmark sign made their rounds on the Internet.
The group of youths has since come forward and publicly apologised for their dangerous actions.
