ALOR STAR: An unemployed man in his 50s was detained by the Kedah Malaysian Anti-corruption Commission (MACC) for impersonating as an Immigration officer.
Kedah MACC director Datuk Mohd Fauzi Mohamad said the man was detained at midnight yesterday while negotiating with a company manager for payment to avoid action being taken against his (manager) foreign workers.
He said the suspect, who is from Perak, was alleged to have demanded RM2,000 from the company manager.
During inspection, the MACC also found a fake pistol on the man, Mohd Fauzi told reporters at his office here today.
He said the man would be in remand for a week to facilitate investigation under Section 16 of the MACC Act. — Bernama
