Johor Sultan to reveal name of title-buying agent tomorrow

KUALA LUMPUR: The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, will reveal tomorrow the name of the agent who allegedly approached the Johor ruler as part of an honorific title-buying attempt.
The Sultan said he will reveal the name of the person to the public and allow the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) conduct its investigations.
"You will know soon," he told reporters at the Kuala Lumpur Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) station here today.
When asked for hints of the person's identity, the ruler declined to oblige, saying it is still a secret.
He did, however, say that the government is clean in this issue, and that the person is a Malaysian from Kuala Lumpur.
"His name is getting longer and longer," he said cryptically.
It was reported the Johor ruler recently revealed that an individual had offered him RM2 million to propose names, to the Chief Secretary to the Government, of candidates for "Tan Sri" titles, which would be bestowed by the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong.
Sultan Ibrahim said the individual had offered the RM2 million since the Sultan had a quota of Tan Sri titles to give out anyway, and might as well profit from it.
"I felt insulted by the whole event," he added.
Sultan Ibrahim had earlier driven the six-coach Tanjung Kupang 26108 locomotive from Johor Baru for a leisure visit to Kuala Lumpur.
Meanwhile, when contacted, MACC sources said the commission was aware of the matter and will update the media on it in due time.
