Upmarket UK grocery chain, Booths, to open in Malaysia

BOOTHS, the upmarket northern grocery chain, will open 19 shops in Malaysia.
The family-owned retailer from south of England is spreading its wings to our shores after entering into a joint venture.
The grocery chain has an agreement with the Hong Kong-listed retailer Dairy Farm, owned by Jardine Matheson, to sell 40 of its best-selling products, including chutneys, jams and puddings, in shops across Malaysia.
The Telegraph today quoted Edwin Booth, the company's chairman and part of the fifth generation of the family to be involved in the firm, as saying: "They like that there are people called Booth who love what they sell … and the heritage gives people a great deal of reassurance."
It currently has 28 retail stores in Northern England. Booths was founded in 1847 as a tea shop in Blackpool. It grew into becoming the first supermarket chain in that area.
