Asean NCAP awards for Proton, Perodua, Toyota

    PROTON Holdings Berhad received three awards at the Asean NCAP Grand Prix Award 2016 for the Iriz compact car, Preve executive saloon, and the new Saga. The awards presentation was in conjunction with the “Stop the Crash” Asean 2016 event held at the Sepang International Circuit yesterday and today. The three awards were: Most Affordable 5-Star Asean NCAP Car in Malaysia (Iriz), Most Affordable 5-Star Asean NCAP Car in Thailand (Preve), and Rising Star Award (new Saga).
    PERODUA’s first saloon, the Bezza, received Best Child Occupant Protection (COP) in the small family car category and Best Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) in the small family car category at the same event.
    “The two awards are a recognition of our efforts to always place our customers’ safety and comfort in our products,” Perodua president and CEO, Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid Salleh said.
    On July 16, the Perodua Bezza was certified 5-star by Asean NCAP, making it the first 5-star EEV national sedan.
    TOYOTA Motor Sdn Bhd (UMWT), also at the “Stop the Crash” event, received six Grand Prix awards from Asean NCAP for best results in Crashworthiness Performance.
    The Toyota models receiving awards for best Child Occupant Protection (COP) are the Rush (SUV category), Hilux (pickup category) and the soon-to-be-launched new Innova (MPV category). The Sienta scored the best points for the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP – MPV category).
    UMWT also received Special Award Safety Technology for Toyota Blind Spot Monitor system available in the Camry Hybrid.
    Subsequently, the Rising Star Recognition Award was also given to the Altis for expanding its safety features (VSC + seven airbags) as standard in all variants and countries.
    In total, eight awards given to Toyota models sold in the Asean Region, which include the Agya that scores high in COP and AOP.
