Meat found in mosque compound

BUTTERWORTH (Feb 16, 2014): Police are looking into a report that a suspicious piece of meat was thrown into the compound of a mosque in Machang Bubuk near here early this morning.
The discovery was made by the assistant Imam when he was opening the mosque for pre-dawn prayers about 5.30am. The mosque is located several metres away from the residence of Permatang Pauh MP Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Penang CID chief SAC Mazlan Kesah said the meat was discovered at the mosque’s second entrance and the suspect believed to have thrown the meat inside while passing by the place of worship.
“There were no closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in the area. The offending slab of meat was found about 10m away from the main road. This is the first time this happened here,” he said in a statement via text to the media today.
Mazlan said the meat was sent to the Veterinary Services Department in Bukit Minyak for tests.
