MH370: Families briefed on Australian find

PUTRAJAYA: For the families of the passengers on MH370, today was another frustrating wait for news on the missing jet.
A briefing was held for them in Everly Hotel by Malaysia Airlines (MAS) following the latest finding by Australia.
Both the five families of Malaysian and China passengers and crew were called in for the briefing after the daily press conference.
Earlier today, the Australian government announced that its Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) had satellite images of some objects on the Indian Ocean, some 2,500km southwest of Perth.
"If it is the missing aircraft, I will accept the fact as difficult as it is. However, for as long as there is no confirmed news, I still have hope that my son is alive," said Selamat Omar, 63, whose son, 29-year-old aviation engineer Mohd Khairul Amri Selamat, was on board the ill-fated MH370.
AMSA reported that its satellite finding of two objects could possibly be from MH370, one as large as 24 metres and another slightly smaller.
Australian and US vessels are being deployed to retrieve the objects for inspection.
A MAS spokesperson said they are keeping family members of the passengers and crew of MH370 as well informed as possible.
"As soon as we have reliable updates or findings, we keep the family members updated. We even send text messages to the family members who have given us their mobile numbers,"she said, adding that it was done for both families that are in Malaysia as well as in Beijing.
"We have also informed our Family Support Centre to brief the families as well,"she added.
After the emotional meltdown on Wednesday at Sama-Sama Hotel, MAS is doing all it can to keep the families informed of any latest updates and to see to their well-being.
