PORT DICKSON: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (pix) said that he has asked Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo's help in improving the internet speed here.
Anwar said Gobind will be visiting Port Dickson today.
"I contacted Gobind and I asked him when he would be coming here, and he said today. I told him that I had already launched an online tuition portal for students here.
"After the launch, the teachers said they are happy but there are many places in Port Dickson where the internet line is quite bad. He said he will be coming today to look into this issue," he said at a ceramah at Linggi here yesterday.
The PKR president-elect was referring to www.pdtuition.com portal that he launched on Thursday.
The portal is a collective initiative by parents-teachers associations from various schools here as well as some non-governmental organisations.
Earlier, in his first ceramah appearance in Port Dickson, former Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli urged the voters here to come out strong to ensure a high voter turnout in the upcoming Oct 13 polls.
Rafizi said he can learn a lot from Anwar if he is part of the Dewan Rakyat soon.
"Anwar can guide me to be brave and most importantly, teach us not to become like Barisan, Umno and PAS," he added.
Anwar is facing six other candidates in the by-election.
The other candidates are PAS' Mohd Nazari Mokhtar and independents Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad, Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, Lau Seck Yan, Stevie Chan, and Kan Chee Yuen.
