KUALA LUMPUR: The government is still considering the amount of compensation payable to the Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT) for the acquisition of two companies related to the Automated Enforcement System (AES) project.
Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Kamarudin Jaffar said several discussions were held with the Ministry of Finance and the Attorney General's Chambers following the cancellation of the contract and compensation requested by LTAT.
"In the latest discussion on Oct 26, all parties agreed that the final claim amount due to LTAT will be extended to the Ministry of Finance to examine all the cost elements submitted in detail," he said.
He was responding to a question from Wan Hassan Mohd Ramli (PAS-Dungun) who wished to know the amount of compensation paid to the operators of the AES system after it had been taken over by the Road Transport Department (JPJ).
Kamarudin said the Finance Ministry would then advise the government on the next course of action.
"The process is expected to be finalised before the end of the year, the latest development over the matter will be announced once it has been approved by the Cabinet," he said. — Bernama
