MALACCA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak today warned all members and component parties of Barisan Nasional (BN) not to betray the BN family in the 14th general election.
Najib, who is also BN chairman, said all component parties must cooperate and work hard as a family to ensure a big win for BN.
"We should not be shooting at our own feet, we should not be kicking our friends' legs.
"We must help one another. If Umno wins, BN wins, if MCA wins, BN wins, " he said when launching the Bukit Katil BN election machinery and attending a tea party here.
Also present were his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, Malacca Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ir Idris Haron and Bukit Katil Umno division head Tan Sri Ali Rustam.
Meanwhile, Najib said he wanted Malacca BN to recapture the Bukit Katil parliamentary seat in GE14.
He said BN would be bringing much more changes to the constituency if it took back the seat.
"We want Bukit Katil to be a priority. I want Bukit Katil to return to BN," he said.
In the GE13, Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin of PKR defeated Ali who was the former Chief Minister of Malacca with a 5,733-vote majority.
Najib also put a target for Malacca BN to win 25 state seats and five parliamentary seats in GE14.
Malacca BN is targeting to control 21 of the 28 state seats and four of the six parliamentary seats.
Commenting on his one-day working visit to the state, Najib told thousands of BN supporters at the same ceremony that he could feel the mood and environment and the aura was seen as a good indicator favouring BN.
On the date of the general election, Najib jokingly said :"When is the election? When is Raya (Aidilfitri)? Have to look for the moon. Soon."
At the ceremony, Ali presented Najib with a book entitled "Najib Razak: Di Sebalik Nama" written by Kuala Selangor MP Datuk Seri Irmohizan Ibrahim and entrepreneurs Ahmad Falahdini and Nasir Baharudin. — Bernama
