SHAH ALAM: Film actor and director Datuk Farid Kamil (pix) will be charged at the Petaling Jaya magistrate's court tomorrow for lodging a false report involving his drugs case.
Selangor Criminal Investigation Department chief SAC Fadzil Ahmat said Farid Kamil Zahari, 37, would be charged under Section 192 of the Penal Code for fabricating evidence.
The offence carries a maximum of three years jail and fine
"Investigations initiated following the second police report he lodged and called in the three people he named in the report.
"Their statements were recorded and inconsistent with what he had alleged," Fadzil told reporters after attending the Selangor state police monthly assembly here today.
On Jan 11, Farid had gone to the Kota Damansara police station to lodge a traffic accident report and had allegedly slapped a traffic policeman. He was arrested, held on remand, and tested positive for drug use.
He claimed trial to the assault charge on Jan 16.
Last Jan 25, Farid also pleaded not guilty to a charge with using the THC drug or 11-nor-tetra hydrocannabinol-9-carboxylic acid.
Farid later lodged a report at the Taman Tun Dr Ismail police station alleging that a few individuals had spiked his drink with drugs prior to his altercation with the police in January.
Police then took statements from actor Sofi Jikan and musician Ahmad Tajuddin Mohamed.
Sofi was later arrested for an alleged drug offence.
