French naval ship Dupuy De Lome (A759) docks in Port Klang

PORT KLANG: French auxiliary naval vessel Dupuy De Lome (A759) today docked at the Boustead Cruise Centre here for the first time on a six-day operational visit, as well as to replenish supplies.
Senior officers of the Royal Malaysian Navy and National Hydrographic Centre were at the pier to welcome the 101.75m long ship which arrived at about 9am from Goa, India.
With a strength of 101 officers and crew, the ship is equipped with the Signal and Communications Intelligence (SIGNIT) which is capable of intercepting all external communications, including satellite systems and also designed to collect signals and electronic communication beyond the enemy lines.
The transit of Dupuy De Lome (A759), led by its commanding officer Commander Louis Tillier, was deemed as an effort that could further enhance bilateral ties between Malaysia and France.
According to a Malaysian navy spokesman, Tillier is also scheduled to visit the National Hydrographic Centre director-general Rear Admiral Datuk Fadzilah Mohd Salleh on Tuesday.
The goodwill visit is to strengthen diplomatic and defence ties between the two countries before the ship leaves for Singapore, the spokesman said. — Bernama
