ROMPIN: The Regent of Pahang Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah called on the government to give priority to the welfare of the people especially those with housing needs.
He said housing was important to the wellbeing and health of families and affordable homes should be available for people who have just started a family.
"The government should also resolve issues on water and electricity supply in all areas as I have great concern for the people."
Tengku Abdullah said this in his speech during a breaking-of-fast ceremony at Kampung Leban Chondong Mosque here, yesterday which was attended by Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and State Secretary Datuk Seri Safian Ismail.
Also present were Rompin Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Hasan Ariffin, Tioman assemblyman Datuk Seri Mohd Johari Hussain, Muadzam Shah assemblyman Razali Kassim and Bukit Ibam assemblyman Datuk Shamsiah Arshad.
At the event, Tengku Abdullah also handed out donations to the poor and underprivileged, including children.
He reminded the people to be ever grateful that they live in a country where there is peace and harmony which allows them to worship in a relaxed atmosphere.
As such he hoped Muslims would take the opportunity to enliven the mosques and suraus in the state, apart from reading the Quran and performing the optional prayers during the last 10 nights of Ramadan.
"Do not forget to fulfil your obligation to pay tithe and with your good deeds, may Allah grant you goodness in this world and the hereafter," he said. — Bernama
