Guan Eng shows photographs of wife of project 'fixer' allegedly pictured with BN leaders

GEORGE TOWN: Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng today claimed the wife of the man who is allegedly a "fixer" in the tunnel and roads project was also pictured with several top Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders.
In the latest twist of controversial photos, Lim hit back at BN by showing reporters a few photos showing BN leaders being photographed with wife of the suspected businessman.
Lim said he was puzzled after some sections of the media highlighted yet another photo of him with the businessman believed to be taken in the back seat of a car last August.
Lim hoped the media would also highlight the photos that he had provided.
In a press conference held at his office today, Lim asked again whether taking photos with the businessman, his wife and family members made someone their close buddies.
If that is the scenario, Lim asked whether the businessman and his wife were staunch supporters of BN since there are photos of her with a few party leaders.
Lim, therefore, reiterated his stance that it was another attempt to smear his reputation as he had taken many photographs with many personalities.
Photos of Lim with the businessman, who was remanded by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for investigations into the undersea tunnel project, had surfaced twice.
On another issue, Lim said Penangites can be assured there will be no water rationing for the next 10 years after the Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) completed parts of the new Butterworth-Penang Island Twin Submarine Pipeline project.
Lim said the RM125 million project comprises three packages, in which Package One has been completed.
He said the package one which cost RM9.2 million encompasses the laying of 0.9km of 1,800mm land pipelines in the Macallum Street area.
Packages Two and Three will include pipelines in Butterworth and also from Butterworth to Macallum area respectively in which the open tender is expected to be called by May this year.
